Samba struck as I was at a certain moment, with help of several friends, very swift a music group was founded. The idea to play samba in public, pass on our enthusiasm for the genre and create our own identity by doing, always challenged to look for something new, soon gave us the name: Entusiasta.

Enthusiasm in English

Entusiasta in Brazilian

Enthusiasm, passion, the desire and the will to learn to play music together; to communicate by use of Samba music. That is Entusiasta!
Our message to the world “where there is a will there is a way, do as you please, accept your fellow man clear the path between you.”

During our performance, starting from a traditional Samba, we love it to improvise. Doing this, one gets engaged in a certain musical dimension were on the waves of rhythm everybody responds to one another.
Exchange of knowledge of and skills in Samba with colleague bateristas and let new ideas pour out and pour in. Also that is Entusiasta.

Segunda Middelburg

Necessity is the mother of invention I would like to say.

Since long contaminated by the Samba virus I am one of the starters of Entusiasta.

During my days in Maastricht I played the surdo 24; heart of the bateria.

Helas, not long after the foundation of our bateria, my work forced me to move to another part of the country; to Middelburg. The end of my short Samba career.

But talking to Jerry about my decision the idea rose to start a division in Middelburg.

The consequence was that I had to put aside the surdo, my first love. And learn to play the repenique, and stand in front of a group as a leading person. A real challenge.

In Middelburg we cautious started to cultivate our bateria. There were rehearsals on a regular basis, musical skills were acquired. Segunda was shaped.

As I wrote as a start: necessity is the mother of invention. Glad I made the step. I enjoy every moment of it.

Samba has become a part of my system; it will always be.

Eddy

Freshly imported from France…

I joined Entusiasta in 2002. Experienced in African percussion

I started to learn to play this fantastic Samba music.
By following a complete curriculum I learned to play the music of Entusiasta on timba, surdo, cuica, reco-reco and tamborim (very difficult instrument to play) this all in a sociable and positive sphere.

In 2008 I had a hard decision to make: I moved to the town of Utrecht and had to leave Entusiasta behind.

But then it occurred to me: Primeira, Segunda…why not Terceira!?

In the year 2009 I started a bateria together with 4 super enthusiastic bateristas.
